Our care staff are trained to administer medication to people requiring assistance with this aspect of daily living. We use the widely accepted UKHCA medication policy and train our staff in accordance with this. It is important to us that individuals we support feel that their medication is handled safely and that the person we are supporting has the appropriate level of support based on their capacity and ability.
Services relating to medication include:
- Encouraging or reminding a person to take their medication
- Administering medication
- Managing medication (re-ordering and collection of repeat prescriptions)
We will assess the level of support required for an individual and ensure that the care plan promotes independence as much as possible. We regularly review the level of help required to ensure that safety is our priority when assisting someone with their medication. Support with medication can be provided in conjunction with personal care.
